Aðalból, a farm about 80 km from the sea, once the home of Hrafnkell Freysgoði of Hrafnkels saga. Tracks for vehicles from there to the mountain Snæfell and other highland areas. The route up from the valley to Ytra–Kálfafell is rather steep and difficult, but then becomes relatively easy to the glacier Eyjabakkajökull.
