Bægisá

Bægisá, a river joining Öxnadalsá between the farms Ytri–and Syðri–Bægisá. Bægisá flows from the glacier Bægisárjökull at the end of Bægisárdalur, a valley surrounded by majestic mountains: Landafjall, a narrow ridge between the valleys Bægisárdalur and Öxnadalur on the west, and on the east, the mountain Tröllafjall (“Giants’ mountain”) (1,471 m), which also dominates Glerárdalur above Akureyri on the east side. This is magnificent mountaineering country.
