Bergþórshvoll

Bergþórshvoll, a farm on the western banks of Affall, a parsonage. This was the home of Njáll Þorgeirsson of Njáls saga. Many place–names remind us of the Saga, such as Flosalág, Káragerði (a farm), Káragróf, Línakrar etc. Njáls saga tells of the burning of Bergþórshvoll in 1011, and archeological studies verify that the house did indeed burn in the early 11th century.
