Bjarnanes

Bjarnanes, a manor farm since ancient times and a historical place, church and parsonage. In the 15th century this was the home of Teitur Gunnlaugsson the rich, a lawman responsible for the execution of the aggressive and unpopular bishop Jón Gerreksson, by having him drowned in Brúará in Árnessýsla. In the 16th century there were great disputes about the ownership of Bjarnanes, which finally was placed under the bishopric of Skálholt.
