Breiðabólsstaður

Breiðabólsstaður, a group of farms below the mountain Breiða­bóls­stað­ar­­fjall, originally settled by Hrollaugur, son of Earl Rögnvaldur of the Möre district in Norway. One of the farms is Hali, birthplace of the author Þórbergur Þórðarson (1889–1974), there is a monument in his and his brothers honour. There is a walking path leading from the monument with 13 signs that have quotes from his books. The walk takes about an hour if all the signs are visited. There is also a museum at Hali dedicated to Þórbergur, Þórbergssetur. Guided tours are available.
