Djáknadys, (“Deacon’s cairn”) a heap of rocks by the road on the north side of Hamarsfjörður, between the farms Strýta and Hamar. According to folktales the priest of Háls and deacon of Hamar quarrelled there and killed each other. All travellers passing there for the first time were to throw three stones in the heap in order to prevent mishaps during the trip. The cairn is a protected site.
