Djúpalónssandur between Dritvík and Einarslón are four well-known lifting- stones, on which the fishermen tested their strength.
The biggest is known as Fullsterkur (“Fully-strong”), weighs 154 kg and is very difficult to lift. Hálfsterkur (“Half-strong”) is 100 kg, Hálfdrættingur (“Weakling”), 54 kg and Amlóði (“Useless”), 23 kg. Men who could not lift Hálfdrættingur were not accepted on the fishing boats.
