Erfingi

Ferstikluháls, a ridge between the Svínadalur valley and Hvalfjörður.

On its northern edge there is a pile of stones by the road, topped by a cross. This is usually called Erfingi (“Heir”) and is said to be the burial cairn of a man whose request to be buried there was refused by the authorities. However, when his body was being taken across the ridge, the horses stopped at this point and refused to move another step.
