Eyjafjallajökull

Eyjafjallajökull, (1,666 m) a volcano covered by about 100 km2 of glacier. Three eruptions in historical times, in 1612, 1821-22 and 2010. It is comparatively easy to climb this glacier and there is a choice of routes. One of the easiest and safest is from Langanes on the road to Þórsmörk, by Grýtutindur and Sker.
