Fjallstún

Fjallstún, a place name below the mountain Ingólfsfjall, where legend has it that the first settler Ingólfur Arnarson had one of his first winter quarters in Iceland. Protected ruins. There have been many rock slides in the mountain above the site. One of the rocks is Sængurkonusteinn, (“Childbed stone”) and it is said a pregnant travelling woman who was turned away at the farm gave birth to her child there. The farm was buried in a landslide the same night.
