Gilsá, a river joining the Blanda south of Guðlaugsstaðir. Beginning of the track to Kjalvegur (F35) south across Auðkúluheiði moor. From Kjalvegur there is a jeep–track north of the mountain Sandkúlufell to Stórisandur sands, from where it is possible to descend to either the Vatnsdalur or Víðidalur valleys, or go west via Arnarvatnsheiði moor to the valleys of Borgarfjörður via Kalmanstunga.
