Glóðafeykir

Glóðafeykir, (990 m) an impressive mountain, steep and rocky, above Flugumýri.

The story goes that Helga Sigurðardóttir, mistress of the catholic bishop Jón Arason, hid out on this mountain while Danish warships were in the north in 1551, the summer after Jón was beheaded in the struggles of the Reformation.
