Hali

Breiðabólsstaður, a group of farms below the mountain Breiðabólsstaðarfjall, originally settled by Hrollaugur, son of Earl Rögnvaldur of the Möre district in Norway. One of the farms is Hali, birthplace of the author Þórbergur Þórðarson (1889-1974), there is a monument in his and his brothers honour. There is a walking path leading from the monument with 13 signs that have quotes from his books. The walk takes about an hour if all the signs are visited. There is also a museum at Hali dedicated to Þórbergur, Þórbergssetur. Guided tours are available.
