Hámundarstaðir, the outermost farm on Árskógsströnd, where the settlers Hámundur heljarskinn (“death’s hide”) and Helgi magri (“the lean”) lived during their first winter in Eyjafjörður. South of the farm is a mountain, probably the Sólarfjall (“Sun mountain”) mentioned in Landnámabók, (“The Book of Settlements”) now called Hámundarstaðafjall. Wild primula (Primula egaliksensis), found nowhere else in Iceland, grows there.
