Hengifoss

Hengifoss, (“Hanging falls”) one of the highest waterfalls in Iceland, 128 m, in the river Hengifossá near the farm Brekka.

In the gorge there, which is pretty and varied, are lignite and fossils. Another waterfall further downstream, Litlanesfoss, is set in basalt columns.

A walking path leads to Hengifoss from the highway.
