Hindisvík, an abandoned farm on an bay of the same name at the end of the Vatnsnes peninsula. Picturesque landscape and a good view of the Strandir coast. Just east of there is Strandvík, where the brig Valborg stranded in 1869 in some of the worst weather to have raged in Iceland. Home for a time of the distinguished and talented poet Rev. Sigurður Norland (1885–1971), who also wrote in English, quatrains following Icelandic rules of metre and alliteration, such as:
She is fine as morn in May
Mild, divine and clever
Like a shining summer day
She’ll be mine forever
