Hítarvatn, a big fishing lake, one of the largest in the lowlands of the county, 8 km2. In it are several islets where lovely flowering plants grow. Out of the lake runs the river Hítará. East of Hítarvatn is the mountain Foxufell (419 m) in which is the cave Bjarnarhellir. There are carvings in the cave and a seat has been hewn in the rock.
