Hjaltadalur

Fnjóskadalur, a long and narrow valley with steep scree mountains on the east side. Long gravel ridges along the slopes, old tidemarks from the ice age, when there was a lake in the valley. Many farms have been abandoned during the last years and the three valleys that continue to the south, Bleiksmýrardalur, Hjaltadalur and Timburvalladalur, now have no functioning farms. The river Fnjóská is a good fishing river.
