Hjaltastaður

Hjaltastaður, a church and a parsonage till 1919. Community centre, Hjaltalundur. It was there that the Hjaltastaður Devil, a well–known Icelandic ghost, was active in the late 17th century. He would speak to people insultingly for hours on end, challenge them to wrestling matches, bang doors, use bad language and shriek most dreadfully. The community centre Hjaltalundur is not far from Hjaltastaðir.
