Hólmatindur, (985 m) one of most majestic mountains off Reyðarfjörður, with the spur Hólmaháls ridge reaching onto the Hólmanes peninsula.
Hólmanes and part of the ridge have been a nature reserve since 1973.
On the mountain side of the road is the location of a cairn said to be the burial ground of a prophetess who stated that she would be the guardian of Reyðarfjörður as long as her bones remained unbroken.
