Holtavörðuheiði

Holtavörðuheiði, moors with extensive and rather flat hills and mountains between Norðurárdalur and Hrútafjörður, quite marshy and with many lakes, maximum altitude about 400 m.

The road across Holtavörðuheiði has long been the main route between the north and south of Iceland. Once considered to be haunted.

Good view towards Eiríksjökull and Langjökull.
