Holt, a farm destroyed by the Skaftáreldar eruptions, after which it was moved. Birthplace of the author Jón Björnsson (1907–94). There is an extensive and beautiful view from the Holtsborg crag, on which grows burnet rose (Rosa pimpinellifolia). To the west of Holt is Holtsdalur, a pleasant valley to walk through.
