Hraun, the name for the area west and south of Straumsvík. The bay was formed between Lambhagatjarnir to the east and Hraun to the west.
In Hraun there are many ruins and remains of old farms and outhouses. There is evidence of fishing being conducted from the shore, of fishermen´s lodgings, storage rooms, walls and areas for processing fish.
Scattered in the lava plains there are many freshwater ponds that come and go with the tide. Some of these ponds are home to dwarf trout that life on the freshwater–seawater boundary.
