Stígandahróf, the place on the Búðartangi peninsula on Húnavatn, between the church at Þingeyrar and the farm Akur, where the settler Ingimundur the Old beached his ships after sailing from Norway. He named the lake Húnavatn (“Cup Lake”) after finding a mama bear with two cups there.
