Hvalfjörður Tunnel

Hvalfjörður Tunnel (Whale Fjord). Built in 1996–1998, the tunnel is 5650 m. This first underwater tunnel in Iceland shortened the journey north and west from Reykjavík by 47 km.

It is the only road for which payment is collected of vehicle owners.
