Hvallátur, the westernmost home of Iceland (and thus Europe), just north of Bjargtangar. Formerly a farm and big fishing–station, relics of which are still visible. It was from there that the rescue of the crew of the British trawler Dhoon off Látrabjarg in 1947 was organized – one of the boldest rescues off Iceland.
