Hvanneyri

Hvanneyri, (pop. 251) a substantial farm and a farming school since 1889. Also a parsonage, agricultural college and a veterinarian’s surgery. Also the Agricultural Museum of Iceland. The Agricultural University of Iceland from 2005. Some of the best grass–land in Iceland is there, especially in the so–called Hvanneyrar­fit. When the college was started many small farms in the surrounding area were taken under Hvanneyri. The first settler at Hvanneyri was Grímur háleyski.
