Hvanneyri, (pop. 251) a substantial farm and a farming school since 1889. Also a parsonage, agricultural college and a veterinarian’s surgery. Also the Agricultural Museum of Iceland. The Agricultural University of Iceland from 2005. Some of the best grass–land in Iceland is there, especially in the so–called Hvanneyrarfit. When the college was started many small farms in the surrounding area were taken under Hvanneyri. The first settler at Hvanneyri was Grímur háleyski.
