Reykjanes, the southwestern point of the Reykjanes peninsula, barren, with lava and a much–indented coastline. The shield–volcanoes Skálafell and Háleyjar­bunga and the volcanic rifts Stampar.

The tuff mountain Valahnúkur where many species of birds nest.

The first lighthouse in Iceland was built there in 1878.

Just off the coast is a tuff pinnacle rock, Karl (51 m) part of which fell away in the winter of 1969–70.
