Lagarfoss, a waterfall in the river Lagarfljót opposite Kirkjubær, the only falls in this river. Lagarfoss is divided in the middle by a rock, where a salmon ladder was built in 1935. It has now been replaced. The west branch is rapids, the east branch plunges off a 6 m high ledge. Total drop: 11 m. The falls were harnessed for power in 1975, so their appearance has changed, and there is a bridge on the dam.
