Landmannalaugar

Landmannalaugar, one of Iceland’s natural jewels and popular tourist attractions in Iceland. Streams of geothermal and spring water come from under a high wall of lava and mix to make streams and pools of just the right temperature for bathing. Though the altitude is over 600 m, the river banks are covered in grass and flowers. The very colourful rhyolite mountains surrounding it make this area quite unique.

The Icelandic Touring Association has operated a mountain lodge in Landmannalaugar since 1951. The lodge is in the altitude of 600 m and is located by the edge of Laugahraun lava field. In walking distance from the lodge is a natural warm geothermal pool that is very popular for bathing.
