Langadalsfjall

Langidalur, (“Long valley”) the district along the east side of Blanda from Breiðavað to the junction of Svartá and Blanda, green and fertile with many big farms. To the east of it is the 25 km long mountain Langadalsfjall, 700–800 m high, steep with many peaks and three deep passes over to Laxárdalur in the east. There have been many big landslides on this mountain, such as those from Illveðurshnjúkur (“Foul weather peak”) north of Geitaskarð pass and from Móbergsfjall (“Tuff mountain”), which left bare a vertical rockface called Móbergsstofur or Stofur.
