Leyningshólar

Leyningshólar, a hilly area formed by landslide and glacial ridges. Nearby are some nice native woods, the only ones worthy of the name in Eyjafjörður and under the protection of the Eyjafjörður district Forestry Association since 1938–39. This is the only place where native birch has survived in the Eyjafjörður district. Some planting has also taken place. Tjarna­gerð­is­vatn, a lake by Leyningshólar.There is a “sibyl’s grave” mound north of the lake.
