Lón, the easternmost district of Austur–Skaftafellssýsla, a wide area between the two capes, Eystrahorn and Vesturhorn. Two long sand–reefs enclose the two lagoons Lón, whose outlet is Bæjarós, and Papafjörður, with its outlet through Papós. Majestic mountains all around the district, which is rather barren and thinly populated.
