Mannabeinahjalli

Beruhóll, a small hill below the farm of Berufjörður, said to be the burial mound of Bera who lived there with her husband Sóti. The story goes that once when Bera and Sóti were returning with a group of people from a visit to Breiðdalur they ran into bad weather on the mountain and lost their way. All of them died at Mannabeinahjalli exept Sóti who walked over a cliff on the mountain in Sótabotn where he was buried. And Bera who kept going, letting her horse and dog find the way, but didn´t notice where she was until the horse went galloping into the stable so she was knocked out of the saddle and broke her neck.
