Morsárdalur

Morsárdalur, a valley to the north of Skaftafellsheiði, with the magnificent icefalls Morsárjökull at the far end and usually closed by Skeiðará in front, with the river Morsá on extensive gravelbeds. Bæjarstaðarskógur on the north side and some warm streams nearby in Vestragil canyon. A side–valley, Kjós, cuts into the mountains to the north, colourful rhyolite mountains rising up to the peaks Miðfellstindur (1,430 m) and Þumall (1,279 m).
