Ódáðahraun, the largest lava–field in Iceland, extending between the glaciers Mývatnsjökull and Vatnajökull between the rivers Jökulsá and Skjálfandafljót, covering 4440 km2. The plateau covers 800 m at its highest point and has many mountains, the highest being Herðubreið (1,682 m) and Dyngjufjöll (1,510 m).
