Ólafsdalur

Ólafsdalur, a small valley south of Gilsfjörður. A farm of the same name, where Torfi Bjarnason (1838–1915) founded the first agricultural school in Iceland, which he ran 1880–1907, marking a milestone in the history of Icelandic farming. The building still stands. In 1955 a monument was raised to the memory of Torfi and his wife Guðlaug Zakaríasdóttir. www.olafsdalur.is
