Reykjanes

Reykjanes, a narrow peninsula between Ísafjörður and Reykjafjörður. There is a hotel, which was once a district school founded in 1934 and renovated around 1960. There is a swimming pool, originally built 1889 and hot springs.

From 1774 till the end of the 19th century there was salt–processing by the hot spring. It was operated again in 2008 and is the only place in the world where salt is produced in an environmentally sustainable way.

Good walking routes and rich birdlife in the area.
