Sænautasel,an abandoned farm (occupied 1843–1943) at the southern end of the lake Sænautavatn (“Sea-monster lake”). It achieved notoriety through the Halldór Laxness’ account A Midwinter Night on Jökuldalsheiði Moor. It was renovated in 1992-3 and is considered well worth a visit. Land reclamation and revegetation.
