Saurbær

Saurbær, a church, a parsonage till 1932. Turf church with timber–frame structure, built in 1858. Iceland’s largest turf church. In the keeping of the National Museum since 1961. There was a monastery at Saurbær around 1200–1217. The building Sólgarður, by the farmstead, contains the fascinating trivia collection of Sverrir Hermannsson (1928–2008).
