Sölvahamar

Klifhraun, a lava–field north and east of Stapafell, ending in the sharp crags Sölvahamar, along the top of which the old travel route lay. Through the lava runs the river Sandalækur, north of which the river Grísafossá comes pouring out of the mountain Botnsfjall, to flow into the sea near Sölvahamar. Near the spring source of this river is a popular campsite, where one of the shortest routes onto the Snæfellsjökull glacier starts.
