Stafir

Stafir, the name given to two lines of cliffs, a lower and an upper line (Neðri–Stafur and Efri–Stafur), on the way up to Fjarðarheiði pass. A monument just on top of Neðri–Stafur to Þorbjörn Arnoddsson, a pioneer in winter transportation from Seyðisfjörður. Beside this monument, the river Fjarðará has carved pretty potholes in the basalt rock. The entrance to the skiing area shared by Seyðisfjörður and Fljótsdalshérað is just below Efri–Stafur.
