Steinsstaðir, a farm in the Tungusveit district. Birthplace of Sveinn Pálsson, doctor and naturalist (1762–1840), who was the first person to make important discoveries about the movements of glaciers. Geothermal heat on the farm land at Steinsstaðalaug pool, where swimming was taught from 1822.
