Þingmúli, (“Meeting mountain”) a farm, church and parsonage until 1890, formerly an official meeting place and hence the name of the two counties, Suður–Múlasýsla og Norður–Múlasýsla. Some ruins from earlier times are still to be seen. Place–names indicate that there was a heathen temple there. A mountain (508 m) of the same name between the valleys. Some fossils found there.
