Þistilfjörður, the bay between the Melrakkaslétta plain and the Langanes peninsula, with farms along its head, where there are low hills and valleys with many rivers, the main ones being Svalbarðsá, Sandá, Hölkná, Laxá, and Hafralónsá. All rise in the moors and most have trout and salmon. Formerly there were several farms on the extensive moors farther inland.
