Þrístapar, a group of three small hills on the north side of the road, the site of the last execution in Iceland, January 12th 1830, when Natan Ketilsson’ murderers, Agnes and Friðrik, were beheaded. The Australien writer Hannah Kent wrote the book Burial Rites about this story. She stayed in Iceland for a year as an exchange student.
