Trölladyngja, (1,459 m) the greatest shield volcano in Iceland, about 10 km in diameter and rising 500–600 m above the surrounding area. The crater is 1,200–1,500 m long, 500 m wide and 100 m deep. Lavaflows are thought to have run down the Bárðardalur valley.
