Tvídægra

Tvídægra, (“Two–day”) flat, gently–sloping moors reaching north to Húnavatnssýsla county. A great deal of impassable boggy land with shallow lakes and tarns but with some low bare hills in between. Fishing in most of the lakes. Formerly people often travelled across the moor but it was difficult to find one’s way and dangerous in winter and indeed many lost their lives there. To the west of the road to Miðfjörður were the Núpdælir paths south to Kalmanstunga. Even further to the west was another route going south to Borgarfjörður, and it was there that the Heiðarvíg (“Moor murders”) took place when Víga–Barði of Heiðarvíga saga took revenge on the men of Borgarfjörður for having killed his brother.
