Vigur

Vigur, a lovely island west of the Ögurnes peninsula, 0.59 km2, rich in eider duck and puffin, formerly a fishing–station. Some relics of old farming methods are preserved on Vigur, including Viktoríuhús and Iceland’s only protected windmill, belived to have been built in 1860. In the keeping of the National Museum since 1992. There is also the country’s oldest 8–oar rowing boat, which is in fact still in use. Popular tourist place.
