Vöðlavík, a bay where there were two serious accidents. The boat Bergvík from the Westman Islands stranded in December 1993 and in January 1994 the salvage vessel Goðinn went down while attempting to tow the Bergvík away. One member of the crew of the Goðinn was lost, but the others were saved in a difficult and daring rescue operation performed by US helicopter crews from the Keflavík naval base.
